I wanted to give a quick follow up to the post I wrote earlier about Google Chrome. So far I’m liking it and disliking it at the same time. I’ll get into a few more details later when I write my full review, but something just happened that really irked me.
First, it crashed on me 7 times in 10 minutes. That could be caused by a lot of things, but considering I didn’t import any bookmarks, etc, I wasn’t digging on that. One the crashes ended I did like how fast it runs.
I don’t like the fact that it looks like Google just ripped off Opera in so many ways. If you’re an Opera user you will totally know what I mean as soon as you open Google Chrome. I was expecting something spectacular and new. What I see is what looks to me like an improved version of Opera.
Finally I have one major issue that’s driving me nuts right now. This is the reason I shut down the browser and went back to Firefox. I can’t publish any posts in Wordpress without the formatting getting screwed up! I’ve already tested this on all of my blogs with private posts, so I see it’s not just an issue to one blog.
What happens is I write a post. I format the post the way I want it to appear with paragraphs, but when I publish the post shows up as one extremely large paragraph. After publishing I thought maybe it’s just an issue with the way it looks in Chrome, but after checking in Firefox and Opera I see it’s actually an issue with the way the blog post actually posts. It’s weird, and I don’t know what would be happening to cause it, but I don’t like it. I cleared my browsing data, but that didn’t change anything. I ended up having to go back in and fix my posts through Firefox.
As much as I was leaning towards actually liking the browser, I definitely can’t use it as my default browser if I can’t post to my blogs with proper formatting. I’d say 70% of my browser use is for blogging.
I am happy with the fact that only 1 of my blog layouts showed up weird in Chrome. The header on this blog overlaps my subpage links. Other than that my layouts all work well.
