Gimme My Door Knobs!

I’ve had it with Hubby saying he’s going to do something and never doing it. I’ve been waiting on those shelves he promised to build for over 2 years. He started building me a new desk a couple of years ago, and then just stopped. The finished half sits in the corner of the utility room waiting to be finished.
Then he promised to change the door knobs. Sorry about how dark the photo is. I still don’t have a new card reader, so I had to use my crappy cell phone cam.

I give him credit for starting, but after 2 months I’m tired of the fact he hasn’t finished them. Almost all the doors inside the house are knob-less. Some of them are just empty holes where a knob should be. Others are just the internal parts of the door hardware where he started to take the old knob off and stopped.
I purchased a 2 pack of door knobs and asked him to replace those two. I figured we’d take the rest off as I bought new ones, but no. He wanted to take them all off at once! Well we see where that got us! This weekend after I get paid I’m going to break down and buy the rest of the knobs, and he better be ready to put them on. I’d do it myself, but I think he should have to for taking them all off in the first place!
I Wish He’d Dress Up
I tried to go to bed early tonight, but that didn’t happen. I guess that’s what happens when you sleep off and on all day. I didn’t sleep very well last night because I’ve got this sore throat that has been absolutely killing me. I’d doze off and wake up 30 minutes later in pain, so I stayed up until Hubby could go to the store for me Sunday morning for meds. Then I slept ’til 3pm.
Now I’m killing time anyway I can. I was going to clean the kitchen, but that’s pretty hard to do in the dark. The overhead light burned out again, so until I make it to the store for fluorescents all I have is the little appliance bulb over the stove.
Instead I ended up killing time by chatting with a friend I haven’t talked to in awhile. We used to talk all the time, but she hasn’t been online in awhile due to real life stuff. She doesn’t live around here, so we haven’t seen each other in 5 years, but I found out she’s coming home for Christmas.
Actually I haven’t seen her since my wedding, and we talked about that. Her now husband was in our wedding, and we discussed how much we’d both like to get together and go somewhere nice to each when she comes home for Christmas. We also talked about how hard it would be to get either of our Hubby’s to dress up to go to the type of place we’d like to go. Neither one of them have really dressed up since they wore tuxedos in our wedding. I nag Hubby all the time about how I’d like him to at least wear a sports jacket every now and then to some place nice, but that’ll never happen.
I need to find some way to plan an event where he has to get dressed up again. I guess my best bet is to tell him I want to renew our vows, and we have to do it in our wedding attire. Hey, that’d give me an excuse to wear my wedding dress again anyway! Luckily the weight I’ve put back on puts me at about the same size I was 5 years ago.
Practical Christmas Gifts
Today my sister called me to get gift ideas for Christmas this year. She said she honestly had no clue what to get Hubby and I, but she didn’t want to give us the same old gift card everyone else gets when they have no clue. She asked for a list of things I would like to have, and told me she had a $20 budget for each gift.
I honestly told her to buy Hubby socks and boxers. I know it seems like the typical gift every guy gets every year, but Hubby is ecstatic to get them. That’s because he goes through both like crazy. I find myself buying him another pack of boxers at least once every couple weeks, and socks are almost a weekly purchase around here. He will only wear one brand, and even though he rips the legs out of the boxers and the toes out of his socks he refuses to change brands. I’d be seriously happy if everyone would just get together and give him a year’s supply of both.
As for me, I honestly didn’t know what to tell her. I hate it when people ask me what I want. I setup a Wishlist and emailed it to all friends and family for that reason, but here she is calling me anyway. I finally ended up giving her a list of some smaller cheaper things that I’m always in need of like office supplies, personal hygiene items, stuff like that. I big on giving gift baskets or bags full of practical stuff that’s useful versus stuff I’ll never use.
She liked that idea, so I’m pretty sure she’ll be throwing together a gift bag of random stuff for me. I honestly can’t wait to give her the present I bought her. I got her a handmade purse made out of a gorgeous horse fabric. My sister is a huge horse freak, so I know she’s going to absolutely love it.
What A Week!
This has been one hectic week. I don’t think I need any Orovo detox to help me work off all this food I’ve eaten. I’ve already burned off most of those calories. We’ve been going, going, going, but I finally got a day to sit down and relax. Hubby and I picked up an RCA 42″ 1080p LCD HDTV on Black Friday, so I had to spend the day watching the Clemson vs. South Carolina game.
This Clemson girl doesn’t miss a game unless she has to, but by god I will NOT miss a Carolina tradition. Today’s game was the 100th consecutive. The rival game has been going on for a total of 106 years, and we won 31-14. That’s extremely great considering how SC’s season has been this year versus our crappy one thanks to Bowden. I’m just glad we finished out the season with a bowl game coming up. If we’d missed out on that it would’ve been the first time since 1999 that we haven’t played a bowl game. I’m also hoping Dabo Swinney takes over as the full time head coach. I love his attitude, and I think he’s done a great job turning us around in his short time as interim coach.
Anywho, enough about football. I’ve got to go do some much needed cleaning, then we’re going to meet up with Hubby’s best friend for dinner. Then I have to swing by the store to pick up a couple cables I need to hook the entertainment pc up to the HDTV. For once I don’t have the cables in my box-o-extra-cables.
