Waiting Till The Last Minute

Guest post of the week by Moises Henderson

I am the world’s worst procrastinator. I have some work due tomorrow that has to be turned in. Now, I just glanced at the clock and it is two o’clock. I swear I have been slacking off all day. I got up early enough, but have done everything but my assignment that is due. About an hour ago, I caught myself watching expert satellite . I realized that I had been watching television since ten. Yikes! For some reason, on this project I just can’t get motivated. I know that I usually work better under pressure, but now I am really pushing it. I have tried everything to focus. I drank coffee, sat in a quite place in the house, and turned off the television. I ate lunch, just to make sure that I wouldn’t waste time snacking. Now, I am catching myself blogging about this situation. Maybe I will be more focused now. Not having blogged in a while was starting to bother me. I wish that there was medication for procrastination, then I wouldn’t have a problem!

Southern Cook

Post contributed by Noah Schmidt

Being from the south I felt like it was really important for me to get better at cooking so that’s what I set out to do earlier this year. I didn’t even know how to fry chicken and to be honest, that’s just inexcusable for a southern woman if you ask me! So I gotdirecttv.com satellite and I started watching every episode of Paula Deen and the Neelys that I could catch and boy did I learn fast. Basically, if you want it to be better you’ve just got to add more butter and mayonnaise and that’s that! It’s not really that simple sincesouthern foodactually has a lot of nuances born from a long standing tradition of history and family but it’s really soulful which is something I love about it. It’s so great being able to tell my grandma that I know how to make her old traditional recipes and mean it – I’m even thinking about offering to host Thanksgiving at my house this year! That may be too much…
