Things Are Looking Up

The good news is we’re not going to starve this month because I have found some extra work that will help keep us somewhat afloat.  I picked up a couple writing opportunities that will give me an opportunity to expand my resume while putting food on the table.  It’ll also keep me from having to spend a lot of time looking at life insurance ratings for term life because I won’t have to cash in my life insurance policy like I was afraid I might have to do.

The other good news is that Hubby got word today that the out of town job he applied for is most likely his.  I say most likely because there was an issue on one of the job sites causing the main boss that makes the final hiring decision to have to leave before he could look over Hubby’s resume.  Hubby was told that it’s almost a done deal, and he’ll most likely get the job.  The only problem is he’ll be sent out on a new contract that’s starting up, so he could still have a couple more weeks of downtime after his hire before that job starts.

At least most of the news today was good news.  My dad also has a couple of projects he’d been wanting Hubby to do for him, and a friend of ours is needing a new roof.  Hubby is going to do all that this week, and that should keep our bills from falling behind too much.

I’m crossing my fingers that things keep going this well because at this point I can say I’m not freaking out anymore.  In the past I wouldn’t freak out at all because if one of us lost a job it was always fairly easy for the other one to find one quickly.  Things are majorly different now that we have the baby, and I have so many other things to factor in.  I keep reminding myself that everything will be okay, though.

Stressed Out To The Max

I’m having a very hard time not blowing a fuse this week.  With the days rolling on and Hubby still out of work the stress is definitely piling up.  This morning my stress level shot through the roof after trying to help Hubby deal with his unemployment.  Government agencies always tend to make my blood pressure shoot up, but the NC Employment office is making it boil.  I’m so aggravated with them right now.  I’d rather spend all day reading diet pill reviews than have to deal with government offices.

They called this morning around 8am and left Hubby an urgent message that he needed to return their call ASAP concerning some questions they had.  No problem, but when Hubby tried to call the back their system kept hanging up on him.  He spent 20 minutes calling them, and he would either get a “all circuits are busy” message or the system would let him get 3 or 4 options into it and drop the call.

He got aggravated and handed the phone to me.  I was able to get the system to let me go through the options, but when I chose the option I was supposed to I was asked for a reference number, and no reference number was left with the message.  Instead of giving me other options the system hung up on me.  10 minutes later I finally got a real life person on the phone and passed the phone off to Hubby only to find out she told him she couldn’t figure out why he got the message or was told to call that number, and gave him 3 more numbers to try.  Hubby called all three numbers, and all three people he spoke to directed him back to the original number he was given.  He tried calling the original number again a dozen times, but now the system hangs up on him before giving him any options.

Yep, government offices totally make my blood boil!

Yard Sale Prep

It’s another late night around this house for me…that is if the baby will sleep.  She keeps waking up every 30 minutes or so with gas.  The poor thing just needs to poo and get it all out, but I know I can’t force that to happen.  Hopefully she’ll sleep a bit before she wakes up again.

I say it’s a late night because it’s already 11:45, and I still have a huge list of things I have to get done tonight.  Now that I’ve decided I’m done searching for a fat burner that works I need to go on the hunt for an energy drink or something that won’t make me all jittery or make me crash afterwards because lately I’m having a ton of these late nights.

I’ve been steadily trying to work on getting all of my  work done, and I barely got it all finished before the midnight deadline.  I’ve been cleaning house off and on all night, and I’ve finally got most of it done, too.  Now I’m taking a break for a minute before I finish up my list.

Here’s my list for tonight.

  • fold and put away all the finished laundry
  • wash another 3 loads of laundry
  • sort two bins of baby clothes for the yard sale Saturday

I still have a ton of stuff to do for the yard sale we’re having this weekend.  I still need to contact the local radio station to place my free ad for the sale.  Then I have to make signs to hang up and sort the rest of my stuff.  Then Wednesday my cousin, Malese, is coming over to watch the baby while I price and tag everything, that is if my tagging gun cooperates.  It keeps shooting out 2 tags at once or none at all.  It’s becoming a real pain, and I’m about to ditch it for the sticker method.

That reminds me if I do that I need to actually buy some stickers because I don’t have any.  I’ve also got to iron all the little dresses I’m selling because I like for all of my clothes to look nice and neat hanging on the rack.  Then I’ve got to make a pass around the house to see what else I can sell.  Right now my entire yard sale pile consists of baby clothes!

Ugh, well I better get to it if I ever plan to sleep tonight!
