She’s Pitiful

The day started off pretty simple with the exception of Ellie being sick. She was up every 20 minutes or so last night, and I can’t figure out if she’s got a bug or if it’s her teeth. It could be a combination of both since she’s been teething nonstop for the last 3 weeks now. At least those little pearly whites are popping pretty easily. We’ve only had a few days here and there that have resulted in uncontrollable crying and fussiness. Today she’s running a fever, though, and you can tell she just doesn’t feel great. That’s also caused her to refuse to nap most of the day, in fact she just went down for a nap, and I’m hoping she’ll stay out awhile. She was in a pretty good mood this morning when my MIL stopped by to see her, but things went down hill from there. My Grandma called wanting to know if I could help my Grandpa cleanup some stuff in their basement since her knees aren’t allowing her to go downstairs much these days. They had a pipe burst, and now they’ve got a big ‘ole mess. I helped him setup their basement dehumidifier, and I went to work cleaning up the mess. My poor Grandma kept Ellie upstairs, but nothing she did would console her. Her mood went from bad to worse as her fever rose. I helped my Grandpa clean everything up as quickly as I possibly could, then we came straight home. I dosed Ellie up with some Tylenol, and she was out like a light. Now I hope she’ll sleep for a good little while, at least long enough to help her feel a little better. I hate it when my poor little baby girl is sick. While she’s out I’m going to get some work done and look for some birthday party decorations. I can’t believe Ellie’s first birthday is right around the corner! I guess it’s time to start planning everything, or it’ll sneak up on me!

Thunk About Money

Yep it’s time for the newest edition of Thursday Thunks.  You should be very proud of me because not only did I remember it this week, I’m actually doing it ahead of time!  I must give myself a small pat on the back because I’m lucky to even remember my name most days.

Anywho, let’s get to the good stuff.

Thursday Thunks: Giving Away Money

The TT questions are brought to you by Bud, the color of organic salsa and the number 3333.

1. To whom did you last give the finger?  My dear Hubby, but I’m sure he deserved it.

2. If you had 1,000 dollars and HAD to spend it, what would you buy?  I’d pay the utilities before buying baby supplies, clothes, food, and such.  It doesn’t take us long to blow through $1,000 because we’re always needing something.

3. What was the last beverage you spilled on yourself? Iced Tea

4. When was the last photograph you took? What was it of? I took a photo of my beautiful little girl tonight.  She was playing with the camera.

5. Who was the last person to smoke a cigarette in your presence? My cousin

6. What animal did you last pet or hold? My bulldog, Bubba.

7. What was the last superstitious thing you did? I threw the extra salt in my hand over my shoulder last night while cooking dinner.

8. What was the last text message you received? A tweet from a friend about a movie he just watched.

9. Berleen has decided to buy twelve goats. If she trades three for some awesome pot, loses one while she was stoned, what do you think she did with the rest?  She probably got them all stoned with her, and left them to sleep it off.

10. What was the last musical instrument played in your presence?  Do Rock Band instruments count?  No?  Ok them my FIL’s drums.

11. What was the last note that you wrote on your hand? A grocery list.

12. Kimber announced that she was born on another planet. Which one do you think it was  and why? Venus…because aren’t all women from Venus?

13. What are you wearing as you answer these ridiculously stupid TT questions?  One of Hubby’s t-shirts (that swallows me whole) and a pair of panties.  Don’t get any ideas…I’m ready for bed.

A Little Vacation Wish

After the week I’ve been having what I really need right now is a vacation.  We were supposed to go to the beach on October, but it just wasn’t meant to be.  What totally sucks is I really do need a vacation right now because some days I feel like I’m on the verge of going crazy if I don’t get away for a few days.

I’m sure every mom feels like that from time to time.  Tonight I find myself wishing Mommy could get a bit of a break, even for just one day.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my family, but we’re currently going through the separation anxiety phase, and that has Mommy wishing a vacation could be in my near future.

Dune fenceI would absolutely love to take a few days, maybe even a week, to visit the Outer Banks.  I’ve been looking at some specs on a beach house posted by Carolina Designs that I would love to rent, and that has me really wishing an Outer Banks vacation could be planned for us very soon.  I can just imagine myself relaxing by the private pool or taking a dip in the hot tub while Hubby chilled in the game room or watched tv.

Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.0 GenericI’d follow that up with a walk along the beach or a trip to see the beautiful banker horses that roam free on the beach.  Lighthouses, mini golf, and plenty of fresh seafood would also be a part of my trip, but I’d spend most of my time relaxing enjoying the fact that I didn’t have to be Mommy for a few days.

Relaxation is what I really need right now, but I’ll have to keep wishing.  We just don’t have the financial means to take a trip this year unless something changes.  That can’t stop me from dreaming about it, though.  I think I may have to curl up in bed, close my eyes, and drift off to sleep thinking about what it would be like to have my toes in the sand right now.  Sometimes just the thought of relaxation is all I need to change my mood.
