Date Nights

All is happy and quiet around here today, and I’m very thankful for that.  It was a rough weekend for our entire household with the little one spending about 22 out of each 24 hour day on a sleeping strike thanks to her teeth.

Saturday night Ellie stayed with her Mom mom and Pop pop for a few hours while Mommy and Daddy had a date night.  She did pretty well although she’s not used to staying over there for an extended period of time, and she’s going through a bit of separation anxiety, too.  She didn’t realize we were gone until about 10 minutes before we returned, so I think she did great.  We’re trying to get her used to staying with all her Grandparents for longer periods of time, so we can have a baby free date night twice a month.

Sure she stays with my Grandparents and aunt a lot, but they both live next door to us, and she never stays for more than a couple hours at a time.  If something is wrong I can run next door to get her.  I’m not used to having a 30 minute drive to pick her up when she needs me, so I think I’m going to have to get used to it just as much as she is.

As for Hubby and I, we both felt completely lost without her.  We went to dinner at Clemson Sushi Bar and did a little shopping.  Once our shopping was done we both were at a loss as to what to do next.  We still had a couple of hours of baby free time, but we didn’t know how to spend it.  We could have gone home, but we’d have used half our free time just driving home and back, so we did the only thing we could think of.  We visited our best friends who we visit almost every weekend.

This is the only time we’ve been to their house without the baby, and their 16 month old son knew it.  He kept throwing his hands up in the air, babbling with a questioning look on his face then asking “bebe?” because he totally knew she wasn’t there to play with him.

I did enjoy getting to spend time with my friends without having to keep a close eye on Ellie at all times, but I felt kind of sad watching their son play alone.  I made a mental note to take Ellie by one day this week so they can play for a bit.

I don’t know what the grandparent’s did with her while we were gone, but by the time we made it home Saturday night she was completely tuckered.  All those sleepless nights probably finally piled up on her as well, and she’s slept like an angel since.  She’s even slept through the night the last 3 nights.  Maybe date night is what we all needed!

Fussy Bottom

Oh what a day today has been, and it’s only noon!  The little one is in a super cranky mood today.  I have a feeling she’s about to pop through the tooth that’s been bothering her for a week now.  Nothing I’ve done has consoled her today.   Now that she’s stopped fighting sleep hopefully her nap will put her in a much better mood.

Now if I could just get these horrible cramps I’ve been having all day to go away I’d be in a good mood.  I’ve considered myself very lucky over the last 8 months as I haven’t had to deal with Aunt Flo visiting me monthly, but now she’s back with a vengeance.  I’m going to have to kick her to the curb with some Advil, so I can get myself back in working order.

While she’s sleeping I’ve got a ton of stuff to get done since I don’t know how much time I’ll have later this evening.  I just took a break from putting away laundry to have a quick bite to eat,  then I’ve got to get my butt to work.  Hopefully Ellie will sleep long enough to let me get it all done, but I’m also hoping she’ll be awake by the time my sister gets here.

She’s coming over to show me the new exhaust system her Hubby had installed on her Rodeo before he left to work out of town again.  She’s super excited about it, and I’m super excited to see my little nephew.  I’m a little jealous as well as I’ve been wanting to upgrade the exhaust system on the Blazer as well.  We just don’t have the cash right now to drop on a purchase like that.  I’m hoping we can afford to do that, add a billet grill, and buy a lowering kit once we get the Blazer paid off.  I’m pretty sure it’ll be more than feasible then as the bike and Blazer will both be paid off right about the same time.  That will loosen up a lot of funds, half of which will be going straight into Ellie’s college fund.

Anywho, now that my turkey sandwich has made it from my plate to my tummy I need to stop rambling and get my butt to work.  Cross your fingers and wish for a happy baby when she wakes up!

Running On Fumes

Boy am I tired tonight.  I spent most of the day running around after the little one who is now refusing to nap.  Let me rephrase that.  She’s not exactly refusing to nap.  She’s refusing to nap during the day.  She slept a total of 25 minutes all day.

We had dinner with the in-laws, and I have to thank my FIL for the awesome lasagna and manicotti.  I’ve been needing some really good Italian, and he filled my tummy full of it tonight.  Afterward we took a walk, and I was sure Ellie would fall asleep in her stroller as she was really fighting a nap.  Nope.  She refused to go to sleep yet again, and by the end of the walk she was wide awake and ready to go again.

We hung out there for a bit longer, then we headed to see our best friends, D & J.  Ellie finally fell asleep on the ride over there, but they only live 5 minutes from Hubby’s parents, and she was awake again the second we pulled into their driveway.  She probably slept a total of 3 minutes on the ride over.

Shortly after we arrived there our friends T & R stopped by.  We hardly all find time to get together at the same time, so it was really nice to all get to hang out for once.  D & J have a 15 month old son, and T & R have two girls who are 19 months and 8 months.  Their youngest is 2 weeks younger than Ellie.

The kids had a ball playing together while us Mommy’s chased after 3 mobile ones, the two older ones walking, and Ellie crawling.  It was a very tiring, but very fun evening, and I enjoyed getting to sit around talking to my friends even if our conversations are all baby and weight loss related these days.  Both of them are currently using weight loss pills, and since I’m still a little hesitant about using them they were giving me pointers on which ones to try.

I shared the info I’ve been finding, like the apidexin reviews I read this morning, but I’m still not quite ready to give in and buy some pills. I still feel like if I continue to eat healthy I’m going to lose the weight as I chase after my now mobile tot. Keep in mind I’m still breastfeeding, and I’m not going to take any diet pill while doing that. I’m definitely not going to stop breastfeeding just so I can take a diet pill either.

Anywho, we decided to load up and head home when they all sat down for dinner. We were invited to eat with them, but as we’d already eaten neither of us were hungry. I did have to try a bite, though, as they grilled out Elk steaks tonight, and I’ve never had Elk. I admit it was the tastiest steak I’ve ever tried! It was so tender and juicy, and there wasn’t a bit of fat on any of the steaks. It also didn’t have that game taste that you get with deer. Yeah, I’m a total deer eatin’ redneck lol.

By the time we left Ellie was so tired I thought for sure she’d go to sleep for the night, but of course I’m not that lucky. She slept on the way home, and she woke up as soon as we hit the driveway. Now she’s still wide awake and in play mode. Hubby said he’d take her until midnight to give me a little bit of a break. I really wanted to take a nap, but I still had work to do which I have just finished. Now that it’s 11:30 I’m hoping I can take her to bed with me and get her to sleep, but if the past few nights have been any indication she won’t go to sleep anytime soon. She’s gone to bed at 9pm every night this week only to wake up between 10-11 thinking she’s just had a nap, and nothing I’ve done has been able to get her back to sleep.
