What A Day

Today has been one of those days around here.  We were up all night with a teething baby, she’s still fussy today, Hubby’s in an ill mood, and all that combined puts me in an even worse mood.  Elliana is finally taking a nap without waking up to fuss every few minutes, so I decided to sit down and take a few minutes to myself.

I could be cleaning the kitchen or folding clothes, but I decided I’m not doing any housework today.  I’m going to enjoy what little time I have by doing something online or maybe playing a game.  I started out by cleaning out my inbox and responding to a couple emails, but a lot of them can wait until tomorrow.  I’m not answering any work related emails until the work week actually begins tomorrow.

I deleted a couple advertisements about Oklahoma criminal defense, then I sent a good 50 emails to the junk folder. My junk filter doesn’t seem to be doing it’s job these days, so I need to check into that. It can wait until later this week though.

He’s Finally Doing It

Hubby and I have been discussing our future, and one thing’s for sure.  He needs to go get his builder’s license.  We’ve been discussing this off and on for awhile, but he’s finally agreeing with me.

He’s been discussing going into business with a co-worker because they realize they have everything they need except the builder’s license.  They’ve got the experience, and they already do work for 2 large residential companies that have agreed to let them bid on jobs.  Now they just need to get the ball rolling. I need to talk to him about maybe contacting a few business plan consultants about their business plan to make sure they have everything in order.

I would seriously love it if he went into business for himself. Like I said it’s something that we’ve been discussing for years, and he’s finally ready to do it. Because he is already contracted through a licensed builder we wouldn’t have any start up costs other than getting his builder’s license. We already pay for all the other expenses that would be associated, and even if he didn’t decide to go out on his own right now it would still be a good idea for him to be licensed.

Thursday Thunks

The baby is asleep, the laundry is washing, and the dishes are done.  I’ve swept & mopped the house and cleaned the kitchen.  I just mixed up a dish of chicken parm, and it’s in the oven baking.  It should be done about the time Hubby gets home from work.  I read a few reviews of safe diet pills until I got bored. What should I do next?

I think it’s about time for a meme, so here’s a Thursday Thunks for ya.

1. Pants on the Ground….

2. To compliment Kimber’s question from last week…. have you ever fell down the stairs?
Unfortunately I can answer yes to that one.

3. Have you ever written to a company about their product? Ever called them?
I do that all the time. I complain if it’s bad, and I praise them if it’s good. Either way I get myself a few coupons and/or samples!

4. Your dog/cat/snake/iguana/pet skunk (or just fill in your pet’s species) goes to the vet. Ok, you take them to the vet… most pets wouldn’t go on their own. The vet tells you that your species has cancer. Do you:

  • a. tell them to pull out the needle and put them to sleep on the spot
  • b. take them home and let them live out their life until the end
  • c. same as b. except you don’t let them get to the suffering stage
  • d. go full steam ahead with cancer treatments

That’s a tough one. I guess it would depend on the type of cancer, how severe it is, and the treatment options. Most likely it would be c.

5. What is your favorite comfort food?
cheesecake!

6. If your child was put in jail for putting a gun in their spouses mouth and pulling the trigger (even though the gun wasn’t loaded), strangling them and breaking their arm… would you post bail for them?
Hell no! I don’t care if it’s my child or not…that is NOT acceptable!

7. If elephants had wings, how many feathers do you think they would have on each wing?
WTF? lol I guess millions of itty bitty ones

8. Is there anything growing in your refrigerator right now?
probably somewhere in the back in an old plastic container

9. What did you do with your Thursdays while we were on a break?
The same think I do every Thursday pinky…

change poop diapers and breastfeed. At least it feels like that’s all I do these days.

10. Would you donate to the Kimber Ark Building Fund and donate wood? She is about to float away after all…
Sure. There’s a gazillion dead trees behind the house leftover from the stupid loggers who ruined the land.

11. If I were to send you a letter and I wanted to put a little heart sticker on the back of the envelope, what color sticker would you like it to be?
Orange!

Throw The Book At Him

I’ve been so out of the loop this week I didn’t know this week is the murder trial of our family friend who was murdered last year on Valentine’s Day.  Missy was a great woman, and I’ll be interested to see what happens to her husband as he stands trial.  He not only murdered his wife, he shot her in the back with their 8 year old son watching, so I hope they throw the book at him.

Normally I’d be all for the death penalty in this situation, but our friendship with Missy has me thinking in another direction.  The death penalty would be the easy way out for him.  I want him to rot in jail forever. Hubby and I agreed if he could get off work and I didn’t have the baby we’d be sitting there in the court room, but I’ll have to deal with reading the news stories and waiting on info from friends and family.

I do have a good bit of stuff to do today.  For starters I’ve got to figure out where the heck I’m going to come up with the cash to pay this horribly high power bill.  I just don’t get how they can get away with gouging people like this!  I mean my power bill is almost $300, and we have wood heat!  I know people who have bills well over $500, and it’s all over the news about it.

Then I’m going to try to get the baby outside again for a bit.  As long as the weather is nice I can postpone my search for diets that work. We’re going to get out and walk everyday and enjoy the weather. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and rainy, so I definitely want to get out today while we can. We’ll probably venture over to see my Grandparents again, and I may leave Elliana there for a bit while I run back home and get some housework done. I know I have a baby, so I have an excuse for a messy house, but this week it’s driving me crazy. If I don’t do that I’ll end up scrubbing what I can during her next nap.

Speaking of naps this one didn’t last long.  She’s starting to stir, so I better get off here before she decides to wake up!
