The Hunger Monster

I can finally say the baby appetite has finally hit me.  I always thought pregnant women ate a lot and stayed hungry in general.  We’ve all heard the stories about midnight cravings and scarfing down a table full of food, but I was shocked to realize my appetite wasn’t really increasing.  I even asked the doctor about it scared that maybe something was wrong with me.  After all I’ve had a slight problem with gaining enough weight.  My doctor kept telling me not to worry about it because my appetite would eventually increase sometime around the 6th month and trigger the weight gain I’ve been lacking.

I’d say it’s definitely hit, and over the last few days I feel like I absolutely can’t get full.  I’m constantly snacking on something (although I’m trying to stick with healthy choices), and I feel like I’m eating us out of house and home!  The cravings have definitely hit as well. I saw a Nespresso machine that triggered a craving for espresso.  Luckily for me that’s one craving I was able to pass by since I’m still anti caffeine for the most part.  Last night I felt like I could eat an entire cheesecake, but I had to settle for a box of pineapple jello I had in the cabinet.  Needless to say as soon as the jello was set it didn’t last more than an hour.

I’ve definitely been on a sweet kick this week, and that’s something I haven’t wanted since the very beginning of my pregnancy.  For the most part I’ve wanted salty and spicy foods.  Boy have I wanted the spicy stuff, but that’s one thing I just can’t have anymore.  The heartburn has become so severe I’ve resorted to prescription stuff, and I’m having to lay off the spicy foods…and the fried stuff except for those fried green tomatoes I just had to make yesterday lol!

Another Weekly Rundown

I’m just popping in for a quick “hi” to let you know we’re still alive and kicking over here.  Unfortunately I have to report that we didn’t get the 3D ultrasound.  There was a huge fiasco with all that and the hospital doctor deciding we did not need a 3D when the 2D showed what my doctor needed.

Needless to say I was a little pissed, and my doctor was extremely unhappy that the hospital doc went against her request.  Oh well.  What matters is my doctor got what she needed, and we’ve confirmed a healthy well developing baby.  As for more ultrasound pics…they’re so horrible I haven’t even taken the time to scan the blobs.  Seriously, you can’t really see anything because they’re so blurry.

Anywho, we’ve spent a lot of time working around this house this week getting things ready.  Now that I’ve changed my mind and had Hubby completely rearrange both bedrooms twice this week I think I’m finally happy.  We have moved our bedroom to the guest room, and the nursery is now setup in our old bedroom…closer to the bathroom but farther away from the front of the house.  Plus the “guest” room has a door that leads our to the front porch (old house with weird design), and I didn’t want to put the baby in a room with a door like that.  It’s just one of those things on my list of safety precautions.

I do still need to go shopping for all the safety products I’m going to need to baby proof the entire house, but I figure I can hold off on that for now. Even though I’m itching to get everything done right now I know I have plenty of time. I also know I may receive some of those items at my baby shower, so I need to just be patient.

Speaking of baby showers, I really need to work on my registry again. I may just do that this evening depending on how I feel. After carrying Elliana low for the last 6 months she’s finally decided to adjust to a higher position, and I’ve become very uncomfortable lately sitting in my desk chair. My lower back is already killing me after sitting here just long enough to type out this post (and to look at this adorable teddy bear bunting I’d love to buy), so I think I shall go soak in a nice bath while I whine for Hubby to pamper me. Hey…it sounds like a good plan to me!

Rise And Shine

I’m so excited about today because I get to see my baby girl in 3D!  If you didn’t get to see the second ultrasound photos I finally got them uploaded to Flickr.  Right now pregnancy brainfog is preventing me from remembering whether or not I actually got around to sharing the link!

Anywho, I’m up bright and early because I’m too excited to sleep, but that’s probably a good thing.  It gives me a little extra time to sit down and throw out a blog post. I have a huge to-do list of stuff to accomplish before my 2:45pm doctor’s appointment, so having this extra time this morning turned out to be a good thing.

My appointment is in Anderson, so I’m taking the time to do things I’ve avoided doing because they required a trip to Anderson.  We’ve avoided going by our insurance guy’s office for months now because we didn’t want to make the trip, but we really need to.  While we’re there today I’m going to talk to him about term life insurance rates because the closer we get to Elliana arriving the more I want to get life insurance and a will setup. You see what kind of things I have on my mind. All Hubby’s thinking about is that we’re going to the mall after the ultrasound so he can have Sbarro pizza from the food court!

Now I’m going to throw out this week’s Thursday Thunks answers so I can get my butt in the shower and on my way.  The more I accomplish this morning the less I have to do this afternoon after my appointment.  That means I can hopefully rush back here to scan the ultrasound photos!  Yeah yeah I know it never really happens that way.

Anywho…onto the thunks!

Questions About This And That And That Other Thing

1. Hypothetical question- you are in a building with famous works of art, old manuscripts of famous novels, and original sheet music from famous composers. The building is on fire and looks to be completely destroyed. Do you grab any of the famous works before fleeing, and if so what?

I would probably grab whatever is closest to me or within reach on the way out the door!  As much as I would want to say a physical part of history my life is more important.  I definitely wouldn’t be taking the time to pay attention to exactly what I was grabbing!

2. In August 1969, the Manson family went on a 2 night killing spree. Do you think 40 years later they have paid for their crimes?

No one will ever pay enough for taking the life of one person much less 40!

3. Power Outage! What’s the longest you have been without power?

I think 4 days was the longest, but we’re used to it.  If the wind blows a little too hard or a squirrel decides to sit on the wrong end of a limb we’re going to lose power.  It’s inevitable we’ll go dark when the ice storms roll around.

4. Just bought a new tazer gun. Will you let it be tested it on you to see if it works, and how it feels to be tazered?

One word…OUCH

5. A neighbor’s mail was delivered to you. In it is a magazine not wrapped in plastic. Is it ok for you to flip through it before giving it to the neighbor? Do you tell them you looked through it?

Considering who my neighbors are…yes.  All of my neighbors are family members right now.  We all receive each other’s mail all the time anyway, and none of them would care if I looked through their mag.  I’d probably be checking it out while walking my butt across the road to deliver it to its rightful owner anyway.

6. If I went through your purse/wallet right now, what all would I find in there?

Hmm…I haven’t cleaned out my purse in a couple weeks so there’s no telling.  Of course you’d find my handy dandy chapstick, keys, wallet, bottle of Tylenol, hand sanitizer, and I’m pretty sure a powder compact.  I’m sure there’s a ton of receipts floating around in there that haven’t made it to my desk yet, and there’s no telling what else.

7. Have you been living under a rock?

It’s my sanctuary.

8. Tell us something crazy you did this week.

Me?  Do something crazy?  Ha!  Actually I honestly can’t think of one single crazy thing I did this week.  Pregnancy is making me too slow and lazy for crazy antics.  Booooo!  I shall have to remember to do something quirky and crazy today while dragging Hubby around the mall.

Still Playing Catch Up

Yet again I’m seriously way behind on blogging, or anything that involves the computer for that matter.  Hubby has decided to use all this free time he’s got catching up on the episodes he’s missed from all his favorite shows…and some new ones.  I should have never introduced him to Hulu!

I really hope he either finds a new job or gets called back to work by his boss soon because he’s totally driving me crazy.  Men are good at that aren’t they?  I did try to help him do some job searching this morning, but we’re still out of luck.  There’s nothing in the area involving construction, and almost everything we’re finding involves major relocation plus wouldn’t supply an income to keep us afloat in our area much less in one with a higher cost of living.

Apparently there are lots of jobs out there if he wants to relocate to work for places like moving companies Los Angeles, but there aren’t any jobs around here. He put in an application at Huddle House because they’ve had a hiring sign up, but not even most of the fast food places are hiring.  It’s definitely not making me feel any better about our situation right now.

Anywho I know I keep promising ultrasound pics that I haven’t had a chance to post, but the good news is next week I’ll have even more pics to share. I went to the doctor yesterday, and she confirmed that the ultrasound tech wasn’t able to get a full spinal image during our last ultrasound.  That means we’ll be going to Anderson next week for a 3D ultrasound…which is something Hubby is really looking forward to.  He was wanting to go to Vision of Life to get a 3D or 4D on our own if we didn’t have a reason to need one from our doctor.  It looks like he’s getting his wish!

Ok I’m going to run off real quick and get the ultrasound pics from the last visit uploaded to flickr real quick. That way I’ve accomplished one thing on my to do list!  Now I just need to hurry because I definitely hear the thunder booming, and I don’t want to leave my pc on much longer.
