Not only did the Charter tech show up on time, but he brought me a brand new Motorola DVR/digital tuner box! Yay! Not only is this box brand new, but it’s much faster and it holds more because it has a bigger hard drive. Yay!
Hubby’s going to be so happy when he gets home. I knew he was pissed last night when he called Charter because he never calls them. He always complains until I do it, but he was pissed enough to do it himself. He was so mad he was threatening to fill one of the kitchen sinks with tons of soapy water so he could submerge the box. He figured if they weren’t going to give us a new one because it’s not completely broken he’d make it broken! LOL! Luckily he lets out his steam complaining and doesn’t carry out his pissed off antics on the poor equipment that can’t help that it sucks.
Back to the new box, I love this one. The menu is back to the basic menu the old regular digital tuner boxes had. It’s not fancy, but it’s fast. The Moxi menu was super fancy and full of tons of features, but the features don’t make a difference if you can’t even navigate the menu without the box freezing up. There are definitely major issues with lag on the Moxi which I’m thinking is associated with the heating issues as well as a memory issue. When you first turned your tv on the Moxi menus would fly, but as you continued to watch they’d get slower and slower until you couldn’t navigate at all.
Anywho, I’m happy. The Moxi is out and the new Motorola is in. Now I just have to head to Charter’s website to set all my recordings up again the easy way without having to search through the channel guide.
