Ask Me First

I love how Hubby tends to make dinner plans without consulting me first.  I laid out chicken to cook for dinner, got it halfway thawed out, then he called and said we’re going to dinner with my Dad.  They ran into each other and decided they both want to go eat at their favorite restaurant tonight, Paw’s Diner.  We just ate there Friday night when we took my Dad out for his birthday dinner.  I love their food, too, but it’s true traditional fat and greasy southern food. If we keep eating there so much I’m going to have to buy some Anoretix to counteract the fat.

I’m happy I don’t have to cook tonight, but I just wish he’d ask me if I was planning to cook dinner instead of telling me we’re going out to eat.  I guess I can put the chicken in the fridge and cook it for dinner tomorrow…if he doesn’t make plans without consulting me again.

Grocery Chaos

Talk about chaos.  We headed out to the grocery store yesterday afternoon to do our weekly shopping.  Of course I completely forgot that the weather channel mentioned a slight possibility of snow.  If I had remembered at all I would have completely avoided the grocery store at all costs.  You know how it is.  Everybody runs out for bread and milk, which I’ve never understood.  The bread part I understand, but I’ve never gotten the milk thing.  I don’t worry too much about stocking up on things that don’t have to be cooked because we can cook on the wood stove if the power goes out.

Anywho, that place was so crazy I didn’t even bother getting half the stuff on my list.  I grabbed the basic stuff I needed for dinner last night, then I waited almost 45 minutes in line to check out.

By the time we left there we were both ill.  I hate dealing with crowds.  It always puts me in a horrible mood.  I totally forgot to grab cat litter and a battery for the smoke detector that’s beeping, so I’ll have to attempt to do that again today.

Of course all these people were freaking out for nothing.  We barely got a dusting of snow that lasted for maybe 2 hours before it all melted away.  I don’t think they even had anything stick in town.  We’re at the base of the mountain, so we always get more.  Now we’re supposed to have a chance of snow flurries tonight, but that’s about it. At least I got to see snow. Now I will be happy if I don’t see anymore this year.

Now Hubby wants to head out to look at tv stands, and I hope the stores aren’t crowded today. I’d rather spend the day sitting right here doing nothing, but I’ve already done that for a couple days. I know he can’t stand being cooped up at home, and it’s driving him crazy.

Shopping Around

I’ve got a lot of stuff I need to do today, but the number one thing on my list is requesting new car insurance quotes. I try to stay on top of it, and sometimes I’ll even request new quotes every couple of months. Now our insurance has renewed, and all of Hubby’s tickets have cleared. Our monthly bill dropped $8 a month, but I have a feeling we might be able to do better than that. I’m going to spend some time requesting quotes and shopping around this morning.

Then I need to go deposit Hubby’s check so I can pay bills. He forgot to go by the bank yesterday, so he had it cashed at the gas station down the road. I don’t really like doing that because normally they charge $1 for every $100 to cash it, but I guess since we’ve gotten to know the owner so well he hasn’t charged us the last couple of times we needed to cash something.

With Hubby being home from work yesterday I didn’t get as much work as I would have liked to done. He kept interrupting me, and I just can’t concentrate while he’s around. Today he’s meeting up with one of his friends at the shooting range, so at least I’ll have some quiet time to hopefully finish the work I have this week.

Hopefully the new laptop charger I ordered for my sister will come in today so I can finish working on her laptop. She lost her charger, and I only got about 10 minutes of cleanup done on it before the battery died. I’ve got all kinds of extra chargers around here, but none that fit hers. Bummer. Oh well I have a ton of other stuff to do, so I better get to it!
