Where’d The Snow Cones Go?
While we were riding around town yesterday Hubby asked me if I would like to stop somewhere to pick up a snow cone. He said with all this hot weather he’s been craving one for a couple weeks. I thought that’s a great idea!
We rode around town hitting the spots where we normally see a Hawaiian Shaved Ice Stand setup throughout the summer. We couldn’t find one anywhere, so we headed to a little ice cream shop downtown that has always served snow cones as well. That ice cream shop has been there forever, and every summer it’s one of my favorites places to go, but we discovered now it’s gone.
Not only can we not find a snow cone stand anywhere, but my favorite ice cream parlor is a thing of my past. It’s now some kind of sports store that sells all kinds of sports stuff. We checked it out for a few minutes, and I was surprised to see the kinds of stuff they sell. They’ve got everything from hunting and fishing supplies to karate stuff and even self defense products. It’s a shame the ice cream parlor is gone though. I asked the manager about it, and he said the ice cream shop shut down last month because they just couldn’t keep up with the newer shop across town. The new shop has a mini golf course and go karts.
At least I do still have other places to get my ice cream, but I’m still wondering where all the snow cone carts are this year. Hubby really has me wanting one now. I used to have my own snow cone maker, but it ended up broken and in the trash a few years ago. I might just have to buy me another one.
