Cracking Down On My Pepsi Points

I really need to start saving my Pepsi Stuff points. Seriously we go through at least two 2 liter bottles in this house a day, and more often than not it’s Wild Cherry Pepsi. The only time it’s not Pepsi is when I luck up and get Cheerwine at a good price (yep total southern love there baby) or hubby grabs Dr. Pepper because they were out of Wild Cherry Pepsi.

I already know I’m horrible when it comes to saving things like points on drink caps, so this time I had devised a plan. I bought a little notebook, and I had planned to write down the code every time I opened a new bottle. Then when I had 10 or 15 codes to enter I would knock them all out at once.

That didn’t work. I completely forget to write down my codes, and by the time I remember the bottle is already gone. Bubba loves bottles, so he chases them around the house until he flattens them. The caps go to Alley because he’s the weirdest cat I’ve ever seen. The only thing he’ll play with are bottle caps. He’s got a whole basket of them, and he bats them around the house. Yes I do know what it feels like to step on a bottle cap in the middle of the night while feeling my way to the bathroom!

Anyway I went through Alley’s basket of caps this afternoon, and I was able to dig out 13 points. I had another cap laying on my desk, 3 written in my notebook yet to be entered, and another 2 liter in the fridge. 1 more point and I’ll have myself 4 free mp3 downloads.

I know these little points programs companies use are marketing programs to turn people onto their product, and I know that a lot of people will even change their beverage of choice just to get the prizes. I’m not one of those people. You won’t see me going out to buy a ton of coke products because coke has points, but the Pepsi stuff I can do.  There’s no telling how many points I’ve thrown away because I just didn’t take the time to grab the code.  *imagines all those extra mp3s I could have right now*

Messing With The Server

Yes Everyday Randomness is down right now, and nope I’m not freaking out.  For once it’s purposely offline.  My host decided to upgrade all their servers last week, and even though it didn’t cause any problems with my own blogs, it did cause problems with my friend Connie’s blog which is hosted on the same rented server.

I’ve spent the past two days reading through documentation, error logs, WordPress forums, and troubleshooting files to figure out how to fix the 500 error she’s received every time she’s logged in since the server upgrade.

My eyes keep crossing on me, but I still have yet to figure out what the exact problem is.  My friend Moses, who owns the server, has taken everything offline to run some checks of his own.  We’re pretty sure it’s not a problem with the entire server because like I said my own blog hosted there isn’t experiencing any problems.

Hopefully we can get this figured out soon because it’s driving us both crazy!  I feel like it’s something that’s got to be right under my nose, but I keep overlooking it.  I’ve exhausted all other possibilities.

Anyway this is exactly why I’m glad that I don’t host all of my blogs on the same server.  I do use the same host for this blog, but it’s located on a different server.  My motorcycle blog is on a different host all together.  Some of my other blogging buddies are always asking me why I pay extra for a different host, but now you can see exactly why.  If something goes wrong I don’t want to be stuck having all my sites down at once.  At least this way I know I’ve got one up and running somewhere.

Messing With Layouts

Please bare with me while I’m messing with my layout.  I know I keep changing it, but I’m having some problems.  The one I really like keeps messing up my comments, and the next one I chose gave me a few different problems.  I’m trying to find one that I like enough to stick with it for awhile.  I’m horrible about getting tired of layouts and changing them up all the time, and I’m trying to move away from that.
