Thank you for your input. I agree that getting frustrated is part of the game, but I do believe there's a point when you just need to walk away.

I get extremely frustrated from time to time, and I may throw the controller or curse up a storm, but I'm not going around punching things, and physically damaging our house hold. He's been known to punch holes in walls, kick doors, etc.

Controlling the temper is the only thing I'm worried about. I don't mind him playing the games, getting frustrated, and such. He just really needs to realize he can't let his temper fly off the handle like that!

If we had children, I definitely wouldn't want them to see their father acting in that manor.

I get frustrated when playing games, too. But the frustration is part of the whole experience.

Playing video games isn't just about having fun for a few minutes. It's about challenging yourself to be better and to accomplish something. Sure, there are no real world impacts to that accomplishment, but that's not the point.

There are very few opportunities for people to feel they are really in control in their lives. Games -- video or otherwise -- are one of those places. The rules are simple. The accomplishments defined.

And those successes and failures get tied into ego. I may not have been the cool kid in school, but dammit -- here is where being a geek can pay off.

I guess my point is that while he does need to be careful about his temper, be aware that you may be venturing into the realm of male ego and self worth.
